Lu Bao (Spice Sachet)

Ingredients

  • 1 Chinese cinnamon stick (you can substitute for a regular cinnamon stick)
  • 4 star anise
  • 3 bay leaves
  • 1 piece of dried tangerine or orange peel
  • 1 tablespoon of fennel seeds
  • 1 tablespoon of cumin seeds
  • 3 cloves
  • 1 teaspoon of coriander seeds
  • 1 tablespoon Sichuan peppercorns
  • ½ teaspoon of white peppercorns
  • sachet/bag and butcher’s twine

Directions

  • 1. Heat a small skillet over low heat and place spices on the pan. Stir frequently and cook until fragrant.
  • 2. Take off the heat and allow it to cool. Then, add to a sachet.
