During the pandemic, I was on maternity leave from working as a nurse practitioner. With lots of sleepless nights with a newborn, I spent those times thinking and dreaming about what my other passions are in life. My passion for caring for people in healthcare carried over to the same feelings of caring for people through my cooking. It gave me lots of joy when my family and friends were satisfied after a meal. When I’m in the kitchen, it’s my happy place where I feel the most creative. I feel a sense of peace and nostalgia when thinking about all the food memories throughout my life. This is what really inspires me to cook. I thought, “Maybe I could go to culinary school and express myself through cooking?”.
This thought of going to culinary school continued to stay ever present in my mind, but could I change careers and leave the only thing that I knew? I built my career in nursing over an extensive period of time and leaving the industry felt scary and unknown, but I knew that I wanted to take the next steps and told myself, “If not now, then when?” So, here I am a new chef embracing the culinary world with lots of excitement and passion. Come explore with me as I bring food to life through my own personal food memories as well as those of my friends and family.
